The Ministry of Sports and Creative Arts has vowed to implement measures to make creativity and sports a lucrative industry.
CS Youth Affairs, Sports and the Arts Ababu Namwamba, flanked by PS Ismail Maalim led a team from the ministry for a sitting with the National Assembly Departmental Committee on Social Protection, chaired by Thika Town MP Hon. Alice Nganga, to deliberate on the Ministry’s supplementary budget estimates.
The CS discussed the projects being undertaken by the Ministry, including the flagship Talanta Hela program and upcoming youth empowerment initiatives.
He told the committee that the Ministry was committed to commercializing sports and the arts in order to put money in the hands of Kenyan youth.
Namwamba urged the committee to help the ministry realize its goal for Kenyan youth by supporting the funding allocation of initiatives that enable young people to make a good living via sports and the arts.
The CS gave the delegation his word that his ministry would work closely with all elected officials to make sure that the youth agenda, which is essential to the government’s Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), is implemented.
