Health Cabinet Secretary Hon. Aden Duale is leading the Ministry of Health’s top leadership in a strategic engagement with healthcare providers in Uasin Gishu County, where key reforms under the government’s transformative Taifa Care rollout are being unveiled.
The agenda focuses on strengthening primary healthcare, integrating digital health solutions, improving governance, and expanding health financing through the Social Health Authority (SHA).
According to the Ministry, these reforms are designed to provide sustainable healthcare funding, reduce high out-of-pocket costs, and make services more affordable and accessible to all Kenyans.
As part of the visit, CS Duale launched digital transformation initiatives, including the handover of end-user devices to modernize health systems and enhance service delivery across health facilities. He emphasized that digital integration would improve efficiency, transparency, and patient outcomes nationwide.
The CS is also scheduled to tour key health facilities in the region, including Ziwa Level 4 Hospital, Mama Rachel Maternal Hospital, and the new site for the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH).
The upcoming 2,000-bed multi-specialty facility is expected to significantly expand access to quality healthcare and complement Kenya’s Universal Health Coverage (UHC) goals.
Duale reiterated the government’s commitment under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) to provide affordable, high-quality healthcare for all Kenyans regardless of socio-economic status, while restoring public trust in the health sector.
The CS is hosted by Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii, alongside MTRH CEO Dr. Phillip Kirwa, Public Health and Professional Standards PS Mary Muthoni, and Acting CEO of the Digital Health Agency Eng. Anthony Lenayara, among other senior officials.
