CS Agriculture and Livestock Development, Hon. Mithika Linturi, was present at the China-Kenya Tea Trade Centre’s opening and the partnership signing ceremony between Benny Tea/Fujian Starchina Tea Company and Kenyan orthodox and speciality tea producers in Shanghai, China.
With the goal of exchanging 5 million kilogrammes of tea yearly between the two parties, the Ministry, the Kenyan Tea Board, and Benny Tea will collaborate to guarantee that Kenyan tea sold through this partnership and value added at the centre has the Produce of Kenya label.
Benny Tea’s commitment to supporting the KTDA Foundation and independent tea producer firms with equipment and technology transfer presents a significant opportunity for the collaboration to drastically improve the lives of smallholder tea farmers in Kenya.
“We are determined to work with all tea industry stakeholders globally to transform Kenya’s tea industry and make it more profitable and sustainable for the benefit of all tea exporters and smallholder farmers,” said CS Linturi.
Present were, Chinese Government officials, Benny Tea Company Chairman Zhang, Tea Board of Kenya CEO Willy Mutai, KTDA Holdings CEO Wilson Muthaura and other tea sector players.
