CS Machogu Lectures Schools Principals Over Delayed Education Funds

According to the CS, the process of obtaining funds from the Treasury was time-consuming. As a result, schools had to be patient.

Ezekiel Machogu, Cabinet Secretary for Education, directed principals to use money paid by parents in the form of school fees rather than lamenting about the delay in capitation funds.

Appearing on Citizen TV, the CS wondered why principals were focused on pushing the government to release the funds, yet they were privy to the channels that ought to be followed before Treasury disburses the money.

“Do you think the schools finished the stock out of the money paid in fees by this time?”

According to the CS, the process of obtaining funds from the Treasury was time-consuming. As a result, schools had to be patient.

“We’re distributing the capitation.” To obtain the funds, you must have all the required data, which is then sent to the bank to begin the disbursement process,” he explained.

However, Machogu revealed that the school would only receive Ksh24 billion, which was Ksh4 billion less than the promised amount.

“There is a deficit of about Ksh2 billion for infrastructure development, and another Ksh2 billion is supposed to be for school feeding programs,” he explained.
