The steady rise in Coronavirus infections on Kenya has raised uncertainties over the opening of schools and the National Examinations that are scheduled to start later this year – By Gerald Gekara
While appearing alongside the Health Ministry during the regular press briefing, Education CS Professor George Magoha roared at Kenyan parents, saying that Covid-19 is a global health crisis which supersedes the education calendar.
He announced that schools will not reopen until the pandemic is contained.
“Schools shall remain closed effective 4th of MAY up to 4th of April. All the schools must comply with the regulations. Schools to remain closed and opening dates shall be determined by National Emergency Response Committee.”, Said CS Magoha.
While addressing issues concerning the online classes issued by the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development, CS Magoha said the government will consider those without access to the gadgets.
He regretted that Kenyans had ignored the health crisis and were walking around without proper protection, despite warning by the Government.
” I want to ask the media. Would you allow your brothers to attend school under these circumstances”; he wondered.
