Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has declared Tuesday, September 13, 2022, a public holiday to commemorate the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect William Ruto and Deputy President-elect Rigathi Gachagua.
On Tuesday, Kenya’s head of public service, Joseph Kinyua, urged Kenyans to come together and celebrate the day.
“It is notified for the general information of the public that the public secretary for Interior and Coordination of National Government in exercise of the powers conferred by section 3 of the Public Holidays Act, declares Tuesday, the 13th September 2022 to be a public holiday being the date of the swearing in of President-elect and Deputy President-elect,” Matiang’i said in the notice.
Kinyua has also gazetted Ruto’s and Deputy President-elect Rigathi Gachagua’s inauguration, stating that the ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. at the Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani.
