Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has warned rogue security officers that they will be relieved of their duties.
Speaking at Nyaura primary school in Kisii Central during the launch of the learning institution’s Ksh.50 million shillings Ultra-modern tuition block, Matiang’i criticized an incident at which some area security agents allegedly condoned the commission of a felony.
He directed the area county commissioner to investigate and file a report on the same with a view to holding to account the officers implicated.
“I heard there was a meeting held by persons who are suspected of perpetrating unlawful acts and officers were part and parcel of the meeting. I can assure you that we will investigate that matter. The County Commissioner and County commander will have to tell me who they are because they are known,” Matiang’i charged
“I am told some of them were hatching a plan to defraud the county and officers were in attendance, offering protection. This is not something we are not taking lightly. I promise you we will arrest them. If people can’t execute their duties, there is no need to have them in office,” he warned
At the same time, the Interior CS cautioned candidates in the August general elections who employ underhand tactics to disrupt political meetings organized by their rivals.
“Gusiiland is peaceful, and so are the people. Those trying to cause chaos through such underhand tactics as hiring goons donned in T-shirts branded with opponents’ party symbols and colours must be reprimanded. We must all stand against such rogues.” He stressed.
Education ministry CS Prof. George Magoha challenged the stakeholders to support the government’s efforts of putting up CBC classrooms through other initiatives.
