CS Matiangi Makes Political Demand during Nyachae Memorial

Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i has made a political proclamation that may usher in his entry into politics. – By Gerald Gekara.

While attending the memorial service of the late Simeon Nyachae, a former government minister and vicious Kisii politician, CS Matiang’i took to the podium to urge leaders to come together under one voice.

He echoed sentiments and praises towards the late Nyaribari chache legislator, who worked to educate and empower the region both economically and politically.

“Dr. Nyachae organized the people of Gusii land so well and made sure each and every member of the community was assisted when due. Therefore let us walk in the teachings that he gave us. Let us unite as leaders and speak as one voice.” He said.

Matiang’i condemned the recent spites of violence witnessed in the area, when Dagoretti MP Simba Arati and his South Mugirango counterpart Sylvanus Osoro decended into blows during a funeral.

Since his retirement in 2007, there has not been a formidable force to control the vote as Nyachae did.

The appointment of arguably the most hardworking and brutal Cabinet official since the days of George Saitoti, Dr. Fred Matiang’i was a fresh breath of air for the community.

His track record in executing government policy in different ministries has earned him a soft spot in Kisii voters.

Another leader whos entry in politics is greatly anticipated, is former Chief Justice David Maraga.

Coming out clean as wool from an office deemed to be a puppet of the central government, the whistle blowing judge set an indelible mark on Kenyan politics when he nullified a general election.
