CS Nakhumicha S. Wafula, the Chairperson of the East, Central and Southern Africa Health Community (ECSA-HC), successfully led the 72nd ECSA meeting at the Crown Plaza in Geneva, Switzerland.

Representatives from the member states attended the summit, which Kenya presided over, in order to build and promote regional health cooperation.

Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Eswatini, United Republic of Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe are the nine nations that make up the intergovernmental ECSA-HC organisation.

Beyond its member states, ECSA-HC provides assistance to other African nations facing comparable health issues. Beneficiaries of the organisation include Botswana, Burundi, Cameroon, Eritrea, Gabon, Liberia, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, Seychelles, South Sudan, Sudan, and Somalia.

ECSA is dedicated to supporting member states’ Human Resources for Healthcare (HRH) capacity building efforts so that healthcare professionals can provide high-quality care.

ECSA’s top objective in achieving Universal Health Coverage for everyone is coordinating the strengthening of health systems in member states.
