The Pre-National Human Resources for Health Dialogue meeting’s official opening represented a substantial improvement in Kenya’s healthcare system.
The gathering of a variety of healthcare professionals, attended by Nakumicha S. Wafula, Cabinet Secretary for Health, signaled the start of a series of conversations targeted at improving the administration and growth of the nation’s healthcare personnel.
The CS made the announcement that the ministry would not be renewing its contract with the Cuban physicians during the occasion.
“As a ministry, I am confident that we will have a highly motivated workforce. We have decided not to renew the agreement with the Cuban doctors. Our very own healthcare professionals are committed to the cause,” said CS Nakumicha.
The right to the highest attainable standard of health is guaranteed by Chapter Four of the Kenyan Constitution, which emphasizes the Ministry’s crucial role in working with the Council of Governors and County Governments to guarantee the provision of safe, efficient, and high-quality health services.
The government has faith in collaborative efforts to come up with workable solutions through ongoing discussions, acknowledging the many difficulties healthcare professionals confront, including training, welfare, performance management, safety, and mobility.
Under the Health Act of 2017, the Kenyan Health Human Resource Advisory Council (KHHRAC) was created, addressing a critical hole in HRH coordination and acknowledging the complexity of healthcare policy and the necessity for a centralized coordinating structure.
The National Discussion on Human Resources for Health in Kericho, which is scheduled for October 18th, will be set up as a result of the discussion, which aims to elevate the voices of health professionals, educators, and policymakers over the course of the following two days.
Dignitaries, including Dr. Abdourahmane Diallo, WHO Country Representative, Ms. Mary Muthoni, PS for Public Health and Professional Standards, and Dr. Patrick Amoth, Ag. Director of Health addressed the delegates.
