Ababu Namwamba, the Cabinet Secretary for Youth, Sports, and the Arts, paid a visit to veteran journalist Catherine Kasavuli at Kenyatta National Hospital on Saturday.
Kasavuli is a veteran journalist battling cervical cancer.
She is the first female TV news anchor in the country and is credited with breaking the glass ceiling for female TV journalists in the country.
“You have inspired a generation of great female anchors. Your influence on our female journalists can never be matched. May God give you healing, so that you can continue to mentor our girls,” CS Namwamba told the celebrated journalist.
During the veteran journalist’s visit to the hospital, the CS prayed with him.
Kasavuli began her career as a radio continuity announcer at the Voice of Kenya in 1980 before moving on to television.
Kasavuli graced Kenyan TV screens as an anchor in most of Kenya’s leading television stations, including Citizen TV, State broadcaster KBC, and KTN, between the 1990s and 2015.
Kasavuli returned to KBC in 2020, where she hosts the Legend Edition. She is currently admitted at KNH after being diagnosed with cervical cancer.
