CS Owalo Delivers Keynote Speech at 5th Edition of the Africa Roundtable Germany

    Co-chaired by the German Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Ms. Svenja Schulze, the event featured a presentation by the Global Perspectives Initiative titled “The Path to Success: Education, Skills, and Leadership.

    This edition of The Africa Roundtable, which was sponsored by a number of organisations including the Federation of German Industries, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Mo Ibrahim Foundation, and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Co-operation and Development, sought to examine the opportunities and difficulties that Africa’s youth face.

    He addressed a gathering of powerful decision-makers from the governmental, corporate, and civil society sectors with an emphasis on strengthening cooperation between Europe and Africa. Mr. Okalo gave information about Kenya’s initiatives to overcome skill gaps by means of Technical Vocational Education.

    This strategy places a strong emphasis on the integration of digital learning while highlighting the importance of ICT skills for entrepreneurship, e-commerce potential, and business process outsourcing in IT services. These factors are crucial in opening up prospects within the digital job market.

    Mr. Tom Amolo, the Kenyan ambassador to Germany, and Mr. Bernd Lakemeier, the programme director of GIZ Kenya, were also present on this occasion.
