Geoffrey Ruku has called on former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka to consider joining the Kenya Kwanza administration, arguing that his vast experience in public service would be more impactful from within government than in opposition.
Speaking during a series of public engagements in Mwingi North, where he also presided over the launch of relief food distribution in Mwingi North, Kitui West, and Masinga constituencies, the Cabinet Secretary encouraged Kalonzo to initiate talks with Deputy President Kithure Kindiki with a view to building a stronger political alliance ahead of the 2032 elections.
Ruku criticized impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and leaders associated with the Democratic Citizens Party, accusing them of misleading Kalonzo for their own political interests.
He maintained that meaningful development is best achieved through cooperation with the government of the day.
According to Ruku, Kalonzo’s more than four decades in public service have given him a clear understanding of how governance works, and that aligning with the administration would unlock greater opportunities for residents of the Ukambani region.
The CS also appealed to residents of Kitui and Machakos counties to support the government led by William Ruto, citing ongoing infrastructure projects and social programmes aimed at improving livelihoods.
Ruku emphasized the need for a shift away from ethnic-based politics, urging Kenyans to prioritize leadership based on performance and service delivery.
He argued that the country has moved beyond divisive politics and should instead focus on unity and development.
Leaders who accompanied him echoed his sentiments, pledging continued support for the government and calling for greater collaboration to drive development across the region.
