President Uhuru Kenyatta has extended the 10 hour curfew order from 10pm to 4am, for another 60 days.
While addressing the nation on the status of the COVID-19 Pandemic, President Uhuru said the curfew order had a positive impact on the spread of the virus among Kenyans.
However, President Uhuru extended a harsh 7pm curfew currently in 13 Counties that had been declared as hotspots.
The Counties; Homa Bay, Migori, Kisumu, Siaya, Busia, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Kisii, Nyamira, Vihiga, Kericho and Bomet have been at the center of the third wave which originated from Kisumu county.
President Uhuru maintained that containment measures were neccessary to save Kenyans, not punishing them.
As of the date of this publication, Kenya’s positivity rate is at 9.5%.
Total confirmed positive cases are 183,603 out of 1,953,344 cumulative tests so far conducted.
