The media community was in mourning on Wednesday following the death of one of its editors, Cyrus Mwelwa.
Mwelwa’s death was made public by MCSK CEO Ezekiel Mutua in a condolence message sent via social media platform X.
“I have learned with profound shock of the death of a dear friend and long-time colleague Cyrus Mwelwa, formerly of the Nation Media Group and later the Standard Group,” Mutua stated.
“May God grant the family peace and comfort, and may his soul rest in peace.”
Mwelwa worked as a sub-editor at Nation Media Group from 1995 to March 2003 before moving to Standard Media Group.
Mwelwa moved into public relations after leaving the newsroom, with his first job as Head of PR at East African Portland Cement.
He also worked at the Africa Leadership Institute, AIG, Kenya Literature Bureau (KLB), and Organic Health Media, where he was the CEO from 2019.
