Czech National Killed In Mombasa Road Accident

A woman was killed in a tragic road accident involving a United Nations vehicle on the busy Nairobi-Mombasa highway.

According to Athi River South sub-county police commander Jos Mudavadi, the deceased was a Czech national and the driver’s wife.

She died on the scene of the accident at Kwa Muambi Bridge around 1.30 p.m. on Saturday.

“An unknown driver was driving a lorry heading towards Mombasa direction. On reaching the scene of the accident, he collided head-on with an oncoming motor vehicle, a Mitsubishi Pajero driven by 43-year-old Moroccan national working with United Nations Disaster Risk Reduction,” Mudavadi told the Star hours after the accident.

According to the police chief, four other people, three men and a woman, were seriously injured in another accident that occurred almost simultaneously with the first one.

The deceased’s body was transported to Machakos Funeral Home, while those who sustained injuries were taken to a hospital for treatment.
