A 33-year-old man was sentenced to 40 years in prison after being found guilty of repeatedly defiling his 13-year-old daughter while under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
Edwin Mule was charged with incest against his own daughter two years ago when he appeared before Eldoret senior resident magistrate Barnabas Kiptoo.
The accused, who the court described as unfit to live with any child, stunned the court when he begged the magistrate for leniency.
Mule asked the Magistrate for a shorter sentence so that he could support his family after serving his sentence.
“I beg your honor to reduce my sentence so that I can leave prison while still strong enough to support my young family,” Mule said.
The accused was charged with incest in violation of Section 20 (1) of the Sexual Offences Act for committing the crime in March 2020 at Huruma Estate on the outskirts of Eldoret town in Uasin Gishu County.
During the case hearing, the minor testified to the court about how her father defiled her almost every day after coming home drunk in the middle of the night.
