Former KPA Boss Wants Graft Charges Dropped

Further, the lawyer requested the trial magistrate to release his passport stating that he was elected as an MP and as result he would be expected to travel frequently.

Nyaribari Masaba MP Daniel Manduku wants the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji to drop the Sh 1.4 billion graft charges against him.

Manduku, who is former Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) Managing Director wants the DPP to review the criminal charges on grounds that there is insufficient evidence to support the corruption charges.

His lawyers told trial magistrate Victor Wakumile that they had already written to the DPP seeking the review.

“We are seeking adjournment for today’s proceedings. We have written to the DPP a letter which seeks to review the criminal proceedings here in,and if the review is considered by the DPP, there is probability of the charges being withdrawn, ” said Manduku’s lawyer.

Further, the lawyer requested the trial magistrate to release his passport stating that he was elected as an MP and as result he would be expected to travel frequently.

The prosecution objected to the release of the passport saying that the main reason why the passport was detained by the court was to ensure that the MP notifies the court of his movements.

The court allowed the case to be adjourned to November 29 for hearing.

However, the second application of the release of the passport was declined.
