Daniel Mbithi Pleads Not Guilty to defrauding an elderly Ladies Ksh253,000

According to the charge sheet, Kyalo is alleged to have, on diverse dates between July 1, 2025 and September 24, 2025, at Norwich House on the third floor along Kimathi Street in Nairobi County, obtained Ksh253,000 from Christine Jelagat Sitienei.

The Milimani Magistrates court has charged a man with obtaining money by false pretences after he was accused of defrauding a woman of more than Ksh250,000 on the promise of securing employment abroad.

Daniel Mbithi Kyalo appeared before the Milimani Law Courts, where he pleaded not guilty to two counts of obtaining money by false pretences, contrary to Section 313 of the Penal Code.

According to the charge sheet, Kyalo is alleged to have on diverse dates between July 1, 2025, and September 24, 2025, at Norwich House on the third floor along Kimathi Street in Nairobi County, obtained Ksh253,000 from Christine Jelagat Sitienei.

The prosecution alleges that the money was obtained with intent to defraud, by falsely pretending that he was in a position to assist her secure a warehouse operative job in Denmark for her son, Vincent Kipkemboi Birgen; a fact the prosecution states he knew to be false.

Upon consideration of bail, the court released Kyalo on a bond of Ksh500,000 with one surety of a similar amount, or an alternative cash bail of Ksh200,000.

He was also ordered to provide contact persons as part of the bail conditions.

The court scheduled the matter for pre-trial on January 22, 2026.
