Police officers are investigating an incident where irate youth invaded the Ugenya constituency office yesterday and vandalized goods of unknown value.
This occurred shortly after the police turned away another group of youngsters who attempted to enter the East Ugenya residence of newly elected local MP David Ochieng.
Bernard Wamugunda, sub-county police chief, announced that they had started an inquiry and would inform the media later.
The incidents are thought to have been brought on by Mr. Ochieng’s choice to join the Kenya Kwanza coalition following the conclusion of their post-election agreement with William Ruto.
The MP is the Movement for Democracy and Growth (MDG) party leader.
“Ugenya is an Azimio la Umoja zone and nobody will change that. Not even the Member of Parliament. We elected him under the umbrella of Azimio la Umoja,” said the protesters as they marched through Sega town.
The lawmaker left the Azimio coalition because he was dissatisfied and felt he wasn’t given enough opportunities to develop as a future leader.
Other Siayan elected officials were not pleased with the legislator’s action either.
