Twist As DCI Now Probes Two Sankok Guns

Investigations into Nominated MP David Sankok’s teen son’s “suicide” have narrowed in on determining the exact firearm used, after it was revealed that the lawmaker owns two guns, not one, as previously thought.

Following inconsistencies in the family’s initial report, detectives went to the MP’s home in Narok last evening to record another statement from him. Ten people have made statements on tape.

Experts at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Forensic Lab were still trying to figure out whether Memusi Sankok was killed by a pistol or a shotgun on Monday.

“Unlike other rifles, a shotgun releases pellets. No bullet or cartridge was found,” Narok County DCI boss Mwenda Ethaiba said yesterday.

Officers from the Narok Homicide Department were dispatched to assist their local counterparts in piecing together the last moments of the 15-year-old, who reportedly had a disagreement with his father about returning to school.

The child was killed by a bullet that entered through his chin and exited at the top of his head, according to a post-mortem performed at Longisa District Hospital on Tuesday.

However, investigations have turned up several inconsistencies, forcing them to consider recording another round of interrogations.

The fact that the officers who responded to the shooting did not collect any spent cartridges from the scene has complicated matters.

According to reports, the Kericho High School student shot himself in his parents’ home.
