Shortly after news erupted that popular Nigerian artist Davido and his fiancée Chioma had lost their 3-year-old son, David Adedeji Adeleke Junior, 9 people have been arrested.
The nine arrested by the police in Lagos State in connection with little David’s death include his nanny, the house cook and other house staff members. However, investigations are still on-going.
Davido’s only son who celebrated his 3rd birthday about a week ago, drowned on Monday, October 31, 2022, inside the family’s swimming pool in Banana Island, Lagos. The young boy was rushed to the hospital but was announced dead at the Lagoon Hospital in Ikoyi upon arrival.
“The boy was inside water for too long and they pulled him out and rushed him to the hospital,” a family source claimed. The source who spoke under anonymity to await an official statement added that “by the time they rushed him to Lagoon Hospital it was already too late”.
Lagos Police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that the drowning happened at Davido’s residence.
According to him an investigation into the matter has commenced. “Yes, we have invited eight people over the death of his son,” Hundeyin said.
Friends, colleagues, and fans of Ifeanyi’s parents, Davido and Chioma, have sent in their condolences via various social media pages.
Meanwhile, the family of the deceased are yet to officially confirm their loss.
