The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has shared new details regarding the controversial death of Ebby Noelle Samuel, who until her death was a form one student at Gatanga CMM Secondary school, currently St Anuarite Gatanga Girl’s school.

Ebby who was a form one student at the school met her death on the night of March 8-9 2019 under mysterious circumstances with the school administrator stating that the form one student had fallen from her bed the night before her classmates noticed her motionless body.

Following the reports, DCI detectives visited the school in a bid to investigate the matter and get to the bottom of it, but the environment was unfriendly for the students to make unintimidated statements.

The DCI was forced to forfeit the investigations until schools closed. During the holidays, detectives visited friends of the deceased and her other schoolmates who offered crucial information on Ebby’s death.

According to the DCI, all the statements recorded from students at the institution contradict information provided by the administration regarding Ebby’s death.

“The team has established that on a fateful night, Ebby had been assaulted severely by a senior member of the school’s administration on allegations that her hair had been styled contrary to school regulations,” DCI said in a statement posted on Twitter.

“This happened during evening preps time, minutes before the 9 pm bedtime bell rang. Ebby, retired to bed that night with severe injuries. That was the last time Ebby’s friends saw her alive, as their efforts to wake her up the following morning turned futile,” added the DCI.

An autopsy conducted by the government pathologist confirmed that Ebby died as a result of blunt force trauma, due to head injury.

The DCI is now looking into the possibility that Ebby may have died from a different cause which may be known to the school administration, but they did not disclose it to the authorities.

“Investigations are on advanced stages and it is only a matter of time before the perpetrators of Ebby’s killing are brought to book and held accountable for their actions,” DCI added.

The DCI has welcomed all students and stakeholders at the school who may have any information on the incident to avail the same to its detectives, promising that their identities will remain anonymous.
