DCI Recovers Stolen Alcohol, Keg Pumps Stolen From Night Clubs

Ten people have been arrested and various products recovered following reports of bar breaking in Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Embu, Laikipia, and Kirinyaga counties.

Bonface Mutwiri, Patrick Mwenda, David Mwaki, Gideon Gatobu, Sharon Makena, Fidelis Kananu, Abdillahi Yussuf, Caroline Kanana, Bonface Kathiri, and Martin mwiti were apprehended in Meru after a sting operation led by DCI’s Crime Research detectives, who were assisted by local law enforcement personnel.

Recovery of varied alcoholic drinks, keg pumps, keg cylinders, and other items was made during one of the raids and searches done at Stinger Lounge Bar owned by Geoffrey Muriuki, who is thought to be the mastermind behind the breakings as well as the notorious custodian of the stolen goods. 

Three vehicles belonging to three suspects were intercepted in the Makutano area in a linked operation, and upon search, a panga and metal bars were recovered inside a Toyota Probox Reg. No. KCA 836R driven by Gedion Gatobu.

Two knives, two pangas, two metal bars, two pairs of number plates, and empty sacks were recovered inside another Toyota Probox Reg. No. KBK 075S driven by David Mwaki.

The detectives also stopped another vehicle, Reg. No. KAX 542R, driven by Patrick Mwenda Kirimi, which is thought to have been utilized in the commission of the crimes.

Another search at Sharon Makena’s house resulted to the recovery of an LG TV, assorted drinks, keg pump, an infinix phone and lumix lens camera, all believed to have been stolen goods.

Manhunt for Geoffrey Muriuki, the owner of Stinger Lounge is ongoing as the other suspects undergo processing ahead of their arraignment Tuesday morning.
