The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has issued a warning to all students in Kenya who are under the age of 18 years. – By Gerald Gekara.
The DCI said all crimes being committed by underage students will be a permanent scar to their future, as their crucial Police clearance certificate will be tainted with petty crime.
“The DCI is archiving and consolidating charges that may be preferred to each and every student involved in any crime. Let each and every student be informed that it will automatically be reflected on the police clearance certificate (Certificate of Good conduct).”
The DCI cautioned students against involving themselves in crime at an early age saying the long term effect will paint deny them crucial opportunities in life.
The circular was as a result of the rising cases of student outrage that culminated in death, violence, destruction of property and other crimes.
In the weekend terminating on Sunday 25th, two schools Kiambere Mixed and Chesamisi High schools have had to endure after students torched and destroyed school property worth millions.
Bizzare incidents such as stabbings that have involved primary school students have also been reported in different locations within the country.
