A DCI officer who was shot in a confrontation with a wanted suspect succumbed to injuries in a hospital in Nairobi on Monday night.
Constable Andrew Nyakundi, who was shot in the thigh on Sunday night, died as a result of complications caused by the bullet ripping his nerves.
Nyakundi was one of four police officers shot and injured during a standoff with a suspected thug they had trapped at his home in Kasarani, Nairobi.
Three of his colleagues are currently being treated at Nairobi West Hospital for gunshot wounds to the abdomen and legs.
The family of the slain officer was on Tuesday struggling to move his body to another mortuary over a payments standoff.
It emerged the Ceska pistol that was recovered from the killed suspect who was killed in the Kasarani shooting belongs to police.
Police authorities say the weapon had been stolen from one policeman in Gem, Siaya County on May 27, 2023.
