Sleuths from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are investigating the cause of an accident that destroyed a brand new ferry worth Sh.3Billion.
According to reports, MV Kwale is said to have been pushed by unexpected heavy tides towards the stagnant MV Safari that was docked, waiting for vehicles to disembark.
MV Kwale rammed into the new MV Safari, which was delivered in April this year, extensively destroying it.
The move created huge traffic jams that continued past curfew hours on Tuesday.
MV Safari is now anchored at the Dry Dock, with Engineers from the Coast Guard, the Kenya Ferry Services, and the African Marine on site.
Kenya Ferry Services say that MV Safari leaked alot of water into its engine compartment, the sitting area, and other parts of the ferry.

The vessel was towed away by tug boats after it began to sink, creating anxiety at the ferry management.
Some 22 people were injured in the ensuing stampede.
The Kenya Ferry Services Managing Director said in a statement that the situation had been contained.
The damage on the expensive ferry may be underwritten, as MV Safari, like all other ferries, is insured.
The accident has regenerated conversation around ferry maintenance, with Marine experts questioning the state of MV Kwale braking system.
