Two suspected thugs escaped death by a whisker on Friday after they were saved from an angry mob in Kasarani.
According to the DCI, the thugs had snatched a mobile phone and a handbag from a middle-aged woman, who was walking home.
In the ensuing melee, the woman raised alarm attracting the attention of nduthi men who were metres away.
Following the incident, the nduthi men immediately roared their bikes to life and gave chase after the two thugs who took flight towards Hunters.
“The chase didn’t last long as the bikes caught up with the miscreants a few metres away, with the leading bike man identified as Jonte jumping from his speeding bike and landing on the ground with one thug. The remaining thug was floored a few steps away after another nduthi man went for his jugular almost choking life out of him,” the DCI stated.
The thugs were severely beaten by the mob as the nduthi men launched a barrage of blows and kicks that disfigured one of the thug’s mandibular anatomy while his accomplice suffered a swollen eye and disjointed limbs.
Across the street, stall vendors selling mare mare products joined the crowd to deliver what they called “instant justice” to the thugs.
“Luckily for the thugs, a Subaru ya mambaru that was packed to capacity from patrol approached and rescued them from the wrath of the angry mob,” the DCI added.
As the thugs were bundled into the waiting vehicle to face justice in a court of law, the lady who had been attacked earlier got her phone and handbag back.
