The death toll in Mukumu Girls’ High School’s alleged food poisoning incident has risen to three after another student died in ICU.
The deceased is 18- year-old Diana Mambili, a form four girl who died while receiving treatment at Kakamega referral hospital.
The death was confirmed by Kakamega County Health executive Bernard Wesonga.
The health executive said four girls remain hospitalised.
The school was closed indefinitely a few days ago to pave way for investigations into the incident that is suspected to have been caused by contaminated food and water.
Health officials toured the school to collect information on what could have led to the tragic incident.
A total of 500 students in the school with a population of over 2,000 students were affected.
