The Defence Forces Medical Insurance Scheme (DEFMIS) organized a two-day sensitization program for its workers beginning Tuesday, June 28th, 2022 at the Humanitarian Peace Support School (HPSS), Nairobi.
The conference, titled ‘It Starts with Us,’ took participants through a variety of themes, including customer service skills, effective communication, administrative professional skills, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), data protection, and mental wellbeing.
Participants also learned about insurance fraud prevention and management, claim compensation and welfare services, and stress management.
The Chief Guest, Vice Chief of the Defence Forces (VCDF) Lieutenant General Francis Ogolla, reiterated the significant strides DEFMIS has made over the years in ensuring retired KDF personnel receive quality medical care in an opening speech read on his behalf by the Commandant Kenya Military Academy Major General Fatuma Ahmed.
“The main core value of KDF is professionalism and DEFMIS has been able to execute this aspect over the years. I thank the Managing Director Brigadier Juma Mwinyikai and his team for their constant dedication and progress in ensuring the scheme’s vision and mission are achieved,” said the VCDF
Major General Ahmed stated in her remarks that DEFMIS is a pioneer medical insurance system in Kenya for retirees that has won the hearts and trust of its members over the years. She urged the team to continue respecting the KDF basic values, particularly the issue of integrity.
