The proceeds of money stolen from a Diamond Trust Bank have been discovered in the account of a bank robber.
Collins Muchera Imbayi was today arraigned in a Nairobi Court with two counts of stealing and illegally receiving money in his bank account,
In Count one, the accused is said to have conspired with other suspects still at large to steal Ksh 991,000 from Diamond Trust Bank Lavington Brach on September 8,2021.
He further faced an alternative charge of dishonestly receiving and retaining Ksh 191,000 in his account having reasons to believe the money was proceeds of crime.
Appearing before Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina, the accused denied particulars of the charges.
His defense counsel pleaded with the court to release him on reasonable bail terms stating that only Ksh 191,000 was recovered in his account and has since been refunded to the bank through mobile money transfer.
The Court released the accused person a Ksh 70,000 cash bail.
