DG Ahmed Ali Sworn In As Wajir Governor

Following the Senate’s decision to sustain Mohamed Abdi Mohamud’s impeachment, Wajir Deputy Governor Ahmed Ali Muktar was inaugurated in as Governor of Wajir County.

Muktar was sworn in by Justice Said Chitembwe in the Wajir County headquarters on Tuesday at lunchtime, after Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka’s announcement of Mohamud’s impeachment.

He becomes Wajir County’s third governor.

Mohamed Abdi Mohamud was impeached after 11-member Special Committee of the Senate for alleged serious constitutional violations.

It was alleged that the governor violated the people of Wajir County’s right to health, which fulfills the threshold for an impeachable offense, according to a 144-page report.
