Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz’s recent collaboration with Juma Jux, titled ‘Enjoy,’ was recently removed from YouTube due to alleged copyright violations.

The deletion of the audio from YouTube left fans puzzled. This incident followed allegations of Diamond Platnumz copying musical ideas from Nigerian artists, stemming from his collaboration with Juma Jux.

Congolese artist Sapologuano Odenumz claimed that the melody in Diamond and Jux’s song closely resembled his own composition, “I Found Love,” and accused them of incorporating his melodies without proper authorization. Speaking to a Tanzanian blog, Odenumz admitted to filing the copyright claim, revealing:

“Yes, I copyright struck the song because it is the melody of my song I Found Love and it was found on their song Enjoy.”

Odenumz filed a copyright claim, acknowledging his action and stating that his melodies were used without permission.

The situation escalated into a legal dispute, with Diamond Platnumz and Juma Jux reportedly taking legal action against Odenumz through their music distribution company.

“They have also sued me. I am in the Congo. I made a complaint to YouTube about that song a long time ago when the song was released, but yesterday they told me that they succeeded in locking it down.”

Odenumz expressed his surprise at the similarities between his composition and the “Enjoy” track. He attempted to address the issue with Juma Jux but allegedly received no response.

Odenumz’s dissatisfaction prompted him to file a complaint with YouTube, resulting in the removal of the audio track. He shared that YouTube invited him to negotiate for a resolution.

Amid seeking fair compensation for his creative work, Odenumz stressed the significance of recognizing the efforts of fellow artists and creators, particularly within the younger generation.
