Diaz Drives Bayern to 2-1 Win Over Title Defenders PSG

Luis Diaz scored twice and was sent off as Bayern Munich claimed a 2-1 win over Champions League holders Paris Saint Germain at Parc des Princes.

The result extended Bayern’s winning run to sixteen matches in all competitions and moved them above Arsenal at the top of the standings. It was a fiery contest that combined moments of brilliance with reckless drama, as Vincent Kompany’s side held firm despite being reduced to ten men for the entire second half.

Bayern made a perfect start, taking the lead inside four minutes after PSG lost possession deep in their own half. Michael Olise’s shot was parried but Diaz reacted quickest to scramble the ball home. The hosts thought they had equalised midway through the first half when Ousmane Dembele finished from close range, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside following a VAR check.

Serge Gnabry twice struck the woodwork before Bayern doubled their advantage in the 32nd minute. Diaz punished a hesitant Marquinhos, stealing the ball and slotting past Gianluigi Donnarumma for his second of the night.

The Colombian’s evening turned sour moments before half time when he was shown a straight red card for a high challenge on Achraf Hakimi after VAR intervention. From that point Bayern were forced into a defensive stance.

Vitinha tested Manuel Neuer with a powerful shot from range and PSG eventually pulled one back through Joao Neves, who volleyed in from Lee Kang In’s delivery in the 74th minute. The hosts continued to press but wasted several late chances, including a close range header from Marquinhos.

Bayern’s discipline and organisation saw them through to another statement victory in Europe.
