Did Cyrus Jirongo have the capacity to drive himself to Naivasha late Friday or early Saturday morning? That is the question detectives will have to answer to silence public skepticism over his death.
Consider the following. Jirongo and Speaker Moses Wetangula reportedly enjoyed tea and uji of whiskey at Oasis Restaurant, officially staying there until well past evening.

Jirongo, reportedly intoxicated, then decided to drive himself home, missed the Dagoretti Road exit and continued half asleep all the way to Karai, Naivasha.
There is precedent. Journalist Caleb Atemi previously wrote in the Standard that Jirongo once banged into the wrong room at Kitale Club after missing his actual room.

Such nocturnal activities among politicians appear to be a Kenyan way of life.
In 2001, then Kilome MP Tony Ndilinge was shot dead at Kahawa West after a night of binge drinking. From Home Park Hotel on Jogoo Road, Ndilinge drove to Roasters Hotel, then to Mwiki and finally Kahawa West, where he met his killers.

Jirongo’s final journey reportedly began in Karen, passed through the Southern Bypass and ended at Karai, Naivasha.
Ironically, he died a few kilometres from where Father Anthony Kaiser met his demise.

The last known address, Oasis Restaurant, is also just metres from where Jirongo’s close friend Jacob Juma was gunned down.
In the end, it appears Jirongo’s appointment with destiny had arrived.
