Didmus Barasa, the MP for Kimilili, returned to his constituency on Tuesday after a Kakamega High Court overturned an order barring him from visiting Bungoma County after his release on bond in a murder case.
This comes after Barasa pled not guilty to the murder of Brian Olunga on August 9, 2022, in Kimilili’s Chebukwabi village.
Olunga worked as an aide for DAP-Brian K’s Khaemba, who was running in the August elections to unseat Barasa from the Kimilili Parliamentary seat.
The learned Judge ruled that indeed Barasa had convinced the court beyond reasonable doubt that the lower court violated his primary human rights by barring him from visiting his home.
“The application dated 19.09.2022 is granted insofar as the terms of bond that the accused never visit Kimilili constituency and the larger Bungoma County are set aside,” ruled Justice Patrick Otieno.
