Didmus Barasa To Appear In Court Over Bodyguard’s Murder

Didmus Barasa, a Kimilili Member of Parliament elect, is set to be arraigned in court following a shooting incident that killed an aide to his opponent Brian Khaemba.

The incident occurred at 6 p.m. at the Chebukwani polling station, while the vote was being counted.

According to reports, the MP followed Khaemba of the DAP-K party to his car after he rushed out of the polling station minutes after his arrival.

Unfortunately, the victim, Brian Olunga, died while receiving treatment at Kimilili sub-county hospital.

Three days after the incident, Barasa surrendered himself at the Bungoma police station on Friday.

According to Khaemba, who reported the incident to Kimilili sub-county police, the incident occurred around 6 p.m. when they went to Chebukwabi polling station to witness the vote counting.

He stated that he met Barasa, and that after about three minutes, he (Khaemba) decided to leave for another station and returned to his car.

Khaemba stated that the MP followed him with four men and ordered him not to leave the area, adding that his driver, Joshua Nasokho, defied the order and ignited the vehicle.

According to Khaemba, it was at this point that Barasa drew his pistol and shot his aide, Brian Olunga, in the forehead.
