Borussia Dortmund have agreed a deal to sign Jobe Bellingham from Sunderland for an initial €32 million (£26.96m), with a further €5 million (£4.2m) in performance-related add-ons.
The 19-year-old midfielder, who played a crucial role in Sunderland’s promotion to the Premier League, is set to join the Bundesliga giants — the same club that propelled his elder brother Jude Bellingham to global stardom.
Jobe made 43 appearances and scored four goals for the Black Cats during the 2024/25 season. His consistent performances caught the eye of scouts across Europe, but Dortmund moved swiftly to bring him to Signal Iduna Park — rekindling their connection with the Bellingham family.
The move could be completed before 10 June, which would make Jobe eligible for Dortmund’s squad in the FIFA Club World Cup set to kick off in the United States on 14 June.
Jobe has also been named in England’s squad for the UEFA U21 European Championship, but manager Lee Carsley has expressed willingness to release players for the Club World Cup, should the transfer be finalised in time.
The parallels between Jobe and Jude’s careers are striking. Both rose through Birmingham City’s academy, earned Championship Young Player of the Year honours, and made early breakthroughs before heading to Dortmund. Jude joined Real Madrid in 2023 after a successful spell in Germany.
Helping to broker the latest Bellingham move is Daniel Dodds, Dortmund’s UK scout and brother of Mike Dodds, a coach influential in both brothers’ development at Birmingham and later at Sunderland.
“I think he can go to the very top,” Mike Dodds said. “Both brothers share an elite mentality — relentless in pursuit of their goals.”
