Dozens Killed in Gaza While Waiting for Aid; Israeli Army Denies Scale of Casualties

At least 67 Palestinians have been killed and scores more injured while waiting for humanitarian aid in Gaza, hospital officials say.

The latest incident occurred in Al-Sudaniya, northern Gaza, with Al-Shifa Hospital reporting 45 fatalities among the victims.

Four hospitals in the area reported receiving mass casualties from the scene. The Gaza Health Ministry says hundreds of Palestinians have died in recent weeks while queuing for food amid a deepening humanitarian crisis.

The Israeli military acknowledged opening fire on a large crowd it claimed posed a threat, but contested the reported casualty figures.

It maintains that militants are exploiting aid convoys to incite chaos. Saturday saw at least 32 more deaths in Rafah and Teina, near food distribution zones.

The incident follows new evacuation orders from Israel targeting Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, raising fears of an expanded ground offensive.

Families of Israeli hostages held by Hamas expressed concern the escalation could endanger their relatives believed to be held in the area.

International aid agencies have warned of the increasingly dangerous conditions under which food is being distributed, with reports of starvation in some districts.

The US- and Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) began food distributions in late May, after Israel temporarily eased its blockade. The Al-Sudaniya killings reportedly occurred away from GHF operations.
