DP Gachagua To Azimio: Don’t Bring Wajackoyah To Mt Kenya Region

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has asked Azimio party leaders to stop associating with Roots party leader George Wajakoya over his mindset on bhang.

Speaking on Monday at Chuka’s Kirubia Stadium in Tharaka Nithi County, the DP said it is an insult to visit a region that has battles with drugs abuse – especially bhang – yet he is the same guy championing for legalisation.

“Azimio leaders know we have a problem with bhang while the guest of honor in their meetings is Wajackoyah. What are we telling our children? This is a man who went on national television and said that bhang should not only be smoked, but also grown,” he said.

The government has maintained a tough stand on fighting against illicit brew and drug and substance abuse in Rift Valley.

On Monday, Gachagua met police officers among other stakeholders for a multi-agency engagement meeting of the Upper Eastern Region on the fight against illicit brew.

“We will work on a joint strategy together to end illicit brew and substance abuse in Tharaka Nithi, Meru, Marsabit, Embu, and Isiolo Counties,” he said.
