Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said that the Kenya Kwanza government has no problem with working with Azimio’s Kalonzo Musyoka, despite his apparent leadership role in opposition politics.

Gachagua was responding to calls from various Ukambani leaders led by Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti to accommodate Kalonzo as President Ruto organized his administration.

“We have no problem with Kalonzo, we just don’t understand him, we don’t know what he wants,” Gachagua said.

“We saw him on Mashujaa Day, we thought he had now joined us. Yesterday, he was in Homabay, in the opposition,” he added.

The DP stated that it was up to the region’s leaders to meet with Kalonzo and assist him in making decisions about the region’s politics.

Gachagua stated that it was time to get the region from the opposition and advised Kalonzo to avoid getting taken in rounds as he was during the selection of Azimio la Umoja One Kenya’s deputy to Raila Odinga.

“We looked for him, asked him to join us but he went back to Raila Odinga. Even the day he was ashamed being subjected to the running mate interview it is us who defended him. We don’t know why he is confused,” the DP said.

Ukambani leaders also stated their willingness to work with President Ruto and praised him for making room in his cabinet for regional leaders.

Gachagua was attending a Church Service at AIC Kitui township, Kitui County.
