DP Gachagua: Why We Dismantled Statehouse Choir

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has stated that their government is only interested in hearing the truth and that’s why they disbanded the statehouse choir as it was only singing praise songs for the previous regime.

Speaking at the launch of the Kenya Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship Accelerator Program on Monday, the DP stated that they want to be told the truth and will accept it positively.

He went on to say that the government of retired President Uhuru Kenyatta was full of people who only praised him.

The second-in-command also stated that the team he referred to as a “praise and worship choir” had been disbanded.

“The previous government had a choir called praise and worship. Their work was just to praise and worship. We have dismantled that choir. For us, we want the truth,” Gachagua said.

“When we engage in that roundtable conference with you, please look at the president and tell him, ‘here you are off the mark. Here you are doing the right thing and here you can change.’ He will take it positively.”

“The only praise and worship team we want to come across is in church on Sunday,” he added.

Gachagua also stated that they were not interested in accumulating wealth for themselves.

“I have said many times and people think I’m joking… We are not looking for wealth. We are just available to serve 24/7,” he said.
