Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has defended the Kenya Kwanza administration’s track record on economic recovery and development, highlighting strides made since the government assumed office two and a half years ago.
Addressing residents of Zombe in Kitui East, the Deputy President emphasized the importance of accountability among elected leaders, urging them to provide regular progress reports to the people they serve.
Kindiki pointed to the challenges the country faced in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, which disrupted key sectors such as agriculture, trade, and transport. He said the government had worked diligently to stabilize the economy and initiate development projects across the country.
“Do not be misled into politics of deceit and conmanship. Politics is a competition, not a fight. It should never create enmity,” said Kindiki, cautioning against divisive rhetoric.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to peace and stability, warning that any attempts to destabilize the country would be met with firm action. “The government will do all it can to ensure peace and stability today, tomorrow, and in the future,” he added.
The Deputy President also defended the right of every Kenyan to seek leadership but stressed that it must be done peacefully and with respect for democratic principles.
“Everyone has the freedom to seek leadership, but it should not be through creating fear or tension,” he said.
Kindiki’s visit is part of ongoing efforts by senior government officials to connect with citizens and highlight development milestones across the country.
