The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairman Wafula Chebukati has declared Deputy President William Ruto as Kenya’s President-elect.
Ruto was declared the winner of the presidential vote on Monday, August 15, after garnering 7,176,141, representing 50.4 percent of the valid vote.
His main competitor and Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, garnered 6,942,930 representing 48.85 percent.
The deputy president won his first election, defeating the former Prime Minister who was running for the fifth time.
The announcement came moments after the main count was interrupted as scuffles broke out.
