According to a police report filed at the Kays Police station in Kiambu, a bodyguard from vice president William Ruto’s security detail has committed suicide.
The report which was reported under OB No: 09/11/04/2022 at 1043 hrs read, “It was reported through a telephone call by the in-charge Presidential Escort Unit Kenyatta Road camp map ref. BJ ****** about 4 km west of the station that there was an incident of suicide at the said camp.”
“Police officers visited the scene and established that PC Samuel Ngatia had committed suicide by shooting himself on the head where the bullet entered on the right side and exited on the left side of the head,” the report further read.
The authorities recovered a Jericho with serial number KP 44338526 and 13 rounds of 9mm bullets, which they suspect was the weapon used.
In the same house, a second magazine with 15 rounds of 9 mm was discovered, as well as a Tavor SMG serial number KP 45806012 with two magazines loaded with 30 rounds of 5.56mm each.
“We also found two expended cartridges and one bullet head,”the report read.
The scene was investigated by CSI Thika and the body was taken to the Kenyatta University Funeral Home for an autopsy.
