DP William Ruto promoted two hustlers by buying several pairs of shoes in his tour at Nyali

Deputy President William Ruto has left two ladies who were selling sandals in Nyali excited after he bought several pairs of shoes from them during his tour in the area.

The DP was on a three-day tour in the coastal region over the weekend where he toured Kilifi, Mombasa and Kwale counties where the popularisation of his hustler movement took centre stage.

In videos shared on social media, the second in command was captured on Saturday, July 18, buying sandals from two vendors in Nyali.

The DP briefly talked to the shoe-sellers, before picking a pair; beside him was Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa and former Mombasa senator Omar Hassan who also picked a pair each.Ruto then retrieved an envelope and handed the ladies their payment and in the background, Jumwa was heard telling the traders that her sandals had also been paid for.

“Hii pia imelipiwa (this has been paid for),” she said.

Many were tickled by Aisha Jumwa’s utterances; here are some of the reactions.

Similarly, a few weeks ago, Elizabeth Mueni, a maize seller in Machakos county, was left with a cocktail of emotions after Ruto purchased green maize from her.

The DP’s motorcade stopped near her, and the second in command approached her and asked if he can buy maize from her.

By that time, Mueni only had four pieces remaining, and the DP wanted five. The trader asked the DP to wait for her as she rushed to bring the fifth one.
