DPP Haji Moves To Block Pastor Ezekiel Release

DPP has moved Shanzu law courts with fresh affidavits seeking to block any possible release of Pastor Ezekiel Odero.

In the new application filed by the prosecution, the ODPP has cited fresh affidavits in the case involving the Shakahola massacre.

The ODPP has asked the court to allow the DCI 30 more custodial orders before charging the pastor.

Ezekiel Odero was arraigned in Court today at 10:00 am under tight security.

His legal team Danstan Omari and Cliff Ombeta objected to the application saying that the pastor should be released to go home or the DPP produce a charge sheet against him.

The Senior Principal Magistrate overruled the objection allowing the prosecution to file the detention order application orally and support it with affidavits.

He said the objection by the defence counsel failed saying the orders issued on May 2 were clear.

“Following the orders on May 2, it is within the law and State is allowed to file applications orally and supported by affidavits,” he said.

“The State can still rely on it to support the oral application. The objection by the respondent.”
