A man from Zike Village, Ilngarua Location, in Baringo County, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after being found guilty of defiling a 12-year-old child.

After a successful prosecution headed by Counsel Collins Ogutu from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), Senior Principal Magistrate Hon. P. Koskey delivered the judgement at the Kabarnet Law Courts (Marigat Mobile Court).

The victim was traumatised and afraid to report the conduct of the accused, a local shopkeeper, neighbour, and farmer, who repeatedly defiled the youngster at his shop and corn field on various dates.

In addition to medical examination records and other crucial evidence that supported the accusations and established the components of defilement, the prosecution called four witnesses, one of whom was the minor.

The court concluded, after examining the evidence, that the prosecution had proven the accused’s guilt of the horrible crime.
