Drama As Mob Invades MCA’s Home Over Attack On Blogger

Drama unfolded in Kabianga Ward, Belgut constituency after hundreds of enraged residents stormed the area MCA’s homestead to protest the arrest of three youths on Tuesday night.

The mob accused the MCA of dispatching two youths to confront a blogger who had criticised him on social media.

The emissaries are said to have confronted the blogger at a pool at the Kabarsowach training centre, where they called him aside for a discussion about why he was attacking ‘Mheshimiwa’ on social media.

Following a brief exchange, the two began raining blows on the blogger, who raised an alarm, attracting the attention of other pool players and members of the public who rushed to respond to his distress call.

A mob attacked the emissaries in response to the distress call.

On Tuesday morning, the MCA took the two to the Kabianga police station to record statements, and in the evening, police officers arrested three youths who had been negatively mentioned by the duo.

Residents were outraged and surrounded the police vehicle in which the three were bundled.

When the situation became tense, the police car took off at high speed, heading for the Sosiot police station.

After a while, the mob marched into the MCA’s homestead in the area, seeking an audience with him.

They flattened his fence and caused other massive destruction there. The MCA, who had just returned home, jumped out of his car and fled on foot, heading towards Premier Trading Centre.

Police officers from the Sosiot police station responded to the incident but were overpowered by the mob.

It took the intervention of village elders to calm down the agitated residents who demanded unconditional release of the three young men.

Attempts to reach out to the MCA who is believed to be hiding proved futile as his phone could not go through.

According to sources close to Mheshimiwa, he was planning to intervene in order to have the three men released.
