Truck drivers operating between Kenya and Uganda have gone on strike in protest of the Covid 19 PCR test, which is required for entry into Uganda.

A critical test is required for all drivers, including those who have documents proving they have been tested in Kenya.

According to a statement issued by the Uganda Ministry of Health on December 22, 2021, the test, which costs Ksh 3,600, must be conducted every time travellers or truck drivers enter the nation.

According to Ugandan authorities, the test will be valid for seven days while en route.

Meanwhile, due to traffic congestion businesses have reportedly been shut down for the past two days.
